Learn more about Will Rubino, LPC-MHSP

Will is a Licensed Professional Counselor with Mental Health Service Provider designation in the state of Tennessee. He has a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Tennessee (Knoxville) and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Eckerd College (St. Petersburg, FL).

Will has been counseling since 2013 and has a wide range of experience and success in residential, partial hospitalization, and outpatient settings. He is passionate about and competent in working with adults of all backgrounds, cultures, genders, and sexual orientations. He is knowledgeable in helping people dealing with self-esteem problems, depression, anxiety, trauma/PTSD, stress, addiction/recovery, grief/loss, borderline personality features, couple/family relationships, identity issues, anger management, and life changes.

Will values building a trusting therapeutic relationship with his clients so they can feel safe and free to truly express, explore, and be themselves. Only you truly know who you are, what you feel, and what you need, and counseling will help you find your own answers, motivations, goals, and true self. Will believes some people need help living with difficult feelings, that people struggle when they don’t understand their feelings or can’t control them, and this often leads to self-criticism and a worsening emotional/mental state. Will wants to help you express and understand all your feelings - because every feeling has a positive purpose. Will also feels that people are happiest when their relationships with spouses, family, friends, etc. are going well and hopes to help clients address and overcome these issues impacting their well-being. Clients, couples, and families working with him can expect an atmosphere of understanding, unconditional acceptance, and open communication. Satisfying change within yourself and within your relationships is possible, and he is excited for the opportunity to work with you!

Will works from the approach of Person-Center Counseling integrated with Reality Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Family Systems Therapy, and has training in Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Processing Therapy for trauma. Will is available to provide counseling to clients ages 18 and older for individual, couples, and family counseling.
